Artist Statement:
When you look at something in a different light, your perspective can change. Reality can then be skewed by thinking there is more than what meets the eye. Shadows can make ideas seem more intimidating and bigger because of how they repeat an idea. In a dark room, with lights from different angles, a negative perspective of anxiety is amplified and it seems heavier than it actually is.

Artist Influences
Will Schade
Schade is an influence for my work due to his honesty with the viewer of his dyslexia. Schade hand wrote onto his artwork to share his disability because he values it. Schade was influenced by not being ridiculed or criticized on his dyslexia his whole life, so he has always been free to express himself. In this project, I learned that I value my anxious thoughts though they affect how I function in the world. Because I have never done this before, my thoughts are in a large quantity rather than leaking out of me in small chunks. Both Schade and I deal with personal issues in our work that connects to people by helping them understand that personal issues can be relatable and expressed in the world. I usually keep my thoughts to myself, but Schade has inspired me to let the public view my hardships because they are a part of me.
"St. Sebastions Ravin"
This pieces shows how Schade accepted his dyslexia by spelling things incorrectly on his artwork. This shows how honest he was with his audience.

Arnaldo Morales
Morales influenced me in this artwork against because his artwork deals with a personal event that highly influenced him to create the art work that he does. Morales had a gun fired to his head but did not die. His work deals with fear, vulnerability, pain, and danger. I am inspired by Morales work because I chose to create artwork based on a personal experience, which is my anxiety. I put myself in a vulnerable position with this project because I shared 100 worried thoughts with my audience. However, due to the lighting in the exhibit, I show the audience that it feels like there are more and than just the paper written thoughts due to the shadows. This creates a nightmarish experience which helps tell the audience I do not feel as though the thoughts can go away which creates a sense of fear.
"Lamp Post"
Creates a sense of fear vulnerability because it looks as though it is going to grab you, but it is in a normal setting.
