Franz Kline
I am playing with moving compositions in abstract expressionist paintings. The one above is by Franz Kline. The photos I took are with different lighting. Four of the images above have a shadow of an images. Three are a ballerina to symbolize a part of someone's history with the clothes as a dancer. The last image is a ring to symbolize relationships. I am experimenting with different images I can use to create shadows to add another layer to the story.
Willem de Kooning
I tried another abstract representation of an abstract painting. I played with different lighting and different places to put the dancing figure.
Anselm Kiefer
Here I was just playing with a very lose example of the composition. More vertical and textural like Anselm's piece above.
Expanding Ideas
When I create my compositions by going to people's rooms, I plan on having either some compositions at hand to create something aesthetically pleasing. Or, I may just keep researching abstract expressionist paintings and become comfortable enough in the design to create my own compositions in the moment. I also plan on cutting out a shape that represents the conversation we have about their clothing and put the shadow somewhere in the composition for another surprise for the depth of getting to know someone.
The three levels of depth I would like to have in my compositions is a shadow of a symbol of something that represents where they got their clothes, or of a memory. Another is a creative writing/poem that brings out some memories or symbols of the clothing. And last of course is the energy of the composition to create a certain mood or feeling that separates the clothes from being something that people judge, but as a beautiful design of color instead.

Questions I have
1. Is the lighting with the spotlight more visually attractive than the low lighting of the room and the flash?
2. Is the shadow symbol interesting in the composition?
3. If I had a handful of compositions that I brought with me to sessions of setting up the clothing compositions, would it be better to model the design after these or work more combining elements of all abstract expressionist paintings?
4. Are the shadows of the clothing form the folds visually appealing? Or should I experiment with more blocks of color?

New photos from break I am not including in final works
These photos were about of my first draft of the second edit of my proposal. These images help lead me in a different direction. The images helped me see what I do not want to do with my thesis which is still productive work!
Final Works to be turned in with second edit.
